About Lee Rod
A Native East Tennessean, Rodney Lee has spent most of his life promoting a music community. For nearly two decades as a promoter and booker for the prestigious Barley’s of Knoxville stage in his hometown, Rodney was the helping hand that brought both local and regional acts together with nationally touring bands and elevated the Old City to what it has become today and helped Knoxville to be known as an important hub for original music.
Rodney has always held music as an important part of his life. The decision to step from backstage to front of the stage, as any musician will attest to, was a big one for Rodney. It brings an observational awareness and a different perspective that translates through his musical style and songwriting. A reverential approach pairs with a distinctive vocal timbre. Rodney’s original songs run the range of deeply personal to the spectrum of the human condition, heartbreak, and redemption.
Stylistically, Rodney could easily hold his own compared to troubadours like Townes Van Zant, John Prine and Nancy Griffith. His songs are finding an eager audience in his hometown and beyond.
